Year 2022

Dr. Manoj K. Patel, Principal Scientist has been selected for the membership of The National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) for the year 2022 under the physics category.
Dr. Manoj K. Patel, Principal Scientist has been selected for the 7th BRICS Young Scientist Conclave 2022 under the Artificial Intelligence theme. The conclave has been held at Xiamen, China on  August 29 - September 01, 2022. 


Dr. Shashi Poddar received IEI Young Engineers Award 2021-22 in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering discipline. The award consists of a Plaque and a Certificate presented during the inaugural session of the 37th National Convention of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers held at Hyderabad during November 18-19, 2022.

CSIR-CSIO received “Medicall Made in India Innovation Awards 2022” – Budding Entrepreneur Award for Double Volume Exchange Transfusion Device in the Category – “Medical Equipment, Point of Care & Wearable Medical Devices, Home Healthcare devices” during Medicall – Hospital Equipment Expo., Chennai on 29 July 2022. Mr. Arindam Chatterjee and Dr. Sanjeev Verma received the award on behalf of CSIR-CSIO. Chandigarh.

  

Year 2021

          IETE LC AwardIETE LC Award


IETE – Lal C Verman Award 2021instituted by The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) in honour of Dr Lal Chand Verman, Founder member of IETE, first Director General of the Indian Standards Institution and the architect of standardization in India has been awarded to Dr Raj Kumar. The award has been given for development of innovative portable digital holographic camera with enhanced field of view to perform precision displacements and non-destructive testing (detection of cracks, de-bonding, delamination, stress distribution etc.) of 3D objects including electrical conducting as well as non-conducting materials like wood, plastics, rubber etc. in non-contact and non-invasive manner for industrial and defense applications. The award was given during the 53rd Mid Term Symposium (MTS) of the IETE held at Kathmandu, Nepal during April 30 – May 01, 2022.
Dr. Satish Kumar has received IETE Hari Ramji Toshniwal Award 2021 for his extraordinary leadership role and contribution to the field of seismic instrumentation on 26 September 2021.


Dr. Neha Khatri, Senior Scientist, is selected for INAE Young Engineer Award 2021. Her field of specialization is Optical system Design and fabrication for Soft X-Rays, Infrared Optical elements, Molecular Dynamic Simulation based modeling, Ultra precision machining of optics.
Mr. Amarendra Goap, Technical Officer received Dr SP Luthra Memorial Gold Medal and a Certificate of Merit for the Best Performance in ME(Mod.) Programmes conducted by Panjab University/NITTTR, Chandigarh on August 7, 2021.



Dr. Pooja Devi, Principal Scientist has received Haryana Yuva Vigyan Ratan  Award 2019. The award is given by Haryana State Council for Science and Technology to honor eminent young scientists of Haryana who have made significant contributions in the field of science and technology. Dr. Pooja has received this recognition for her work on materials for water pollutants monitoring and water splitting. The award is given by the Governor of Haryana and carries a cash prize of INR 1 lakh, a citation, and a trophy on August 31, 2021.
Dr. Manoj K. Patel, Principal Scientist has received the Certificate of Appreciation for contribution in the field of environment during the Virtual World Environment Day Awards 2021 on June 05, 2021.


2020

Dr. Ranjan Jha BRICS YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARD 2020 Represented INDIA under Artificial Intelligence (AI) theme at BRICS Young Scientist Forum 2020, Chelyabinsk RUSSIA

Dr. Pooja Devi received prestigious INAE Young Engineer Award 2020. The award was conferred upon her  by Dr. Sanak Mishra, President Indian National Academy of Engineers in virtual INAE Online Annual Convention being held on Dec 21-22, 2020. She has received this recognition for her contribution towards materials engineering for water quality monitoring and energy harvesting. The award carries a citation and cash prize of Rs.1 lakh. With this she has also been inducted as INAE Young Associate in academy.
Mr. Vinod Mishra, Technical Officer, Selected for Young Engineer’s Award (2020-2021) of the Institution of Engineers of India.
Dr. Pooja, Sr. Scientist, Selected for prestigious INAE Young Engineer Award by Indian National Academy of Engineers (INAE). With this she has also become a young associate of INAE.
Dr. Umesh Kumar Tiwari has received IETE-CEOT (94) Award (Biennial) for the year 2020 for his contribution in the field of fiber optics sensor instrumentation on September 27, 2020 by the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), New Delhi. The award is given to a person for outstanding contribution in the field of opto-electronics covering materials, devices, circuits, technologies, systems & applications. The award consists of a medal, a citation and a cash prize of Rs.10,000/-.
Dr. Manoj K Patel has received the IETE-Hari Ramji Toshniwal Award for the year 2020 for his contribution in the field of advanced electrostatic spraying technology for societal and industrial applications on September 27, 2020. The award is given to a person for outstanding innovative ideas having practical application in industry leading to development and production of electronic instruments and related systems for use in India and abroad. The award consists of a medal and a citation.
Dr. Manoj K Patel has received the prestigious CSIR Young Scientist Award 2020 (CSIR YSA-2020) in Engineering Sciences discipline for his notable contribution in the design and development of an advanced electrostatic spraying technology, based on which products have been developed and marketed. The award was conferred to Dr. Patel on September 26, 2020 during the 79th CSIR Foundation Day. The CSIR Young Scientist Award comprises a citation, a plaque, a cash award and special honorarium  till the age of 45 years.
Best Oral Presentation for Session 19 is awarded to Mr. Mayank Garg for presenting contributed paper entitled "Amine functionalized graphene quantum dots for the electrochemical detection of ferritin" online in  International Conference on Integrated Interdisciplinary Innovations in Engineering,  Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET), Chandigarh,  August 28-30, 2020
SERB Women Excellence Award (2020) awarded to Dr. Pooja under Engineering Science category and an associated project funding of 18.00 lakhs to execute project entitled, “2D Materials Engineering for Simultaneous Hydrogen Production and Emerging Pollutants Degradation”
Shushila Sharma New Idea Award 2020 has been awarded to Dr. Manoj K Patel, CSIR-CSIO for his innovative work in the field of "Electrostatically Charged Sprays for Dust Mitigation and Smog Control" on June 29, 2020 during the Foundation Day of CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur. The award carries a citation and cash prize.
Dr. Pooja was Elected as Member, Indian National Young Academy of Science (2020-24), INYAS is a young academy of Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi. Under engineering science category, Dr. Pooja was inducted in INYAS, INSA as a member for a tenure for five years. As an active member of INYAS, she is contributing towards white paper for “Challenges for Young Scientists of India” and science promotion activities.
Dr. Pooja Devi awarded DST Project Best Poster Award 2020 for “Development of efficient photoelectrodes for hydrogen fuel from water”, by DST in “Industry Academia Conclave on Hydrogen and Fuel Cells” ,  IISER Thiruvananthapuram, February 27-28, 2020
The thesis work of Dr. Pooja entitled “Selective detection of toxic Metalloids with Carbonaceous Nanostructures” was selected for “GC Jain memorial best Thesis award”, Indian Materials Conclave and AGM Conference, CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute, Kolkata, February 11-14, 2020. Young Associateship, Indian Academy of Sciences (2019-22): As a recognition to research credential of Dr. Pooja, she has been awarded the highly competitive and prestigious “Young Associateship” of Indian Academy of Science in year 2019 under “Engineering Science” category
Dr. Neelesh Kumar, Senior Pr. Scientist, received National Award for The Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities-2019 for Applied Research/Technological innovation aimed at improving the life of persons with disabilities. The award is given by Hon'ble President of India

Dr. Raj Kumar, Senior Scientist, CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh received "Special Recognition Award 2019", for outstanding contribution in Indigenous development of Laser Lithotripsy System by Allengers Global Healthcare (P) Ltd.
Dr. Amit Laddi, Senior Scientist, CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh received "IETE - Hari Ram Ji Toshniwal Award–2019" at 62nd Annual IETE Convention held at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, Ayodhya (U.P.) on September 28, 2019. The award is given for his outstanding innovative ideas having practical application in industry leading to development and production of electronic instruments and related systems for use in India and abroad
Dr Manoj K Patel, Senior Scientist, CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh has received the “IEI Young Engineers Award” by The Institution of Engineers (India) for the year 2019-20 in recognition of his contribution in the field of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering on the occasion of “35th National Convention of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers” organized by Haryana State Centre, under the aegis of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering Division Board, IEI in association with & at Technology Education and Research Integrated Institutions (TERii), Kurukshetra on October 19, 2019. 
Dr Divya Agrawal, Senior Scientist, CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh, is awarded CSIR Young Scientist Award-2019 in Engineering Sciences for her significant contributions in developing instrumentation solutions for Situation Awareness (SA) Enhancement of Fighter Aircraft Pilots and Ground Applications. She has contributed significantly in projects of national importance under which R&D activities related to enhancement of situation awareness through development of Head Up Displays & related Test Platform, and Aircraft Lighting Systems were undertaken. These technological contributions for multiple aircraft platforms including prestigious Indian LCA result in situation awareness enhancement and increased efficiency of the aircraft pilot. Also, she contributed in the development of multi spectral image fusion algorithm for enhancing target detection capability of an observer while performing surveillance even during poor lighting conditions.
Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Senior Scientist, CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh was selected for “Haryana Yuva Vigyan Ratna Award – 2017". Haryana Yuva Vigyan Ratna Award is instituted by Haryana State Council for Science & Technology to honour eminent scientists of Haryana who have made an outstanding contribution in the field of Science and Technology. The award was conferred by Shri Satyadeo Narain Arya, Hon’ble Governor of Haryana on February 28, 2019 at Haryana Raj Bhawan on the occasion of National Science Day.
Dr. Pooja Devi, Scientist, CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh is awarded by one of the prestigious "ISCA Young Scientist Award" in Material Science Category for the year 2019. The award was conferred to her by Dr. Manoj Kumar Chakrabarti (President, Indian Science Congress Association) during the valedictory function of 106th Indian Science Congress held at Lovely Professional University (LPU), Jalandhar on January 07, 2019.
Dr. Pooja Devi, Scientist, CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh is awarded "ISEES Young Scientist Award" for her excellent contributions in the area of Material Science, Sensors and Energy Harvesting. Shri Vijay Kumar Saraswat, (Member, NitiAaayog) and Prof. Ashok Pandey (Chairman, ISEES), conferred Young Scientist Award 2019 to Dr. Pooja in recognition of her outstanding work done towards the Materials Engineering for Environmental and Energy Harvesting  Domains. The award was conferred in 3rd SEEC event held at IIT Roorkee during December 18-21, 2018
2018
Sh. Amit Laddi, Senior Scientist, CSIR-CSIO received National Award  for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DIVYANGJAN) -2018 in recognition of his outstanding work done towards development of cost-effective product for manufacture aimed at improving the life of Persons with Disabilities. The award was conferred by the Vice President of India, Shri M. Venukaiah Naidu on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, on  December 3, 2018 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. 

Amarendra Goap and Anubrata Roy, received first rank in National Level Competition on prototype development "TechSpardha2K18" at NITTTR, Chandigarh, September 05-07, 2018 under the guidance of Ripul Ghosh.
NRDC National Societal Innovation Award 2017 was awarded to Dr Manoj K Patel by NRDC for his contributions in the development of “Advanced Electrostatic Spraying Technology”.  He received the award from Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union minister, Ministry of Science & Technology, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Ministry of Earth Sciences, on National Technology Day, May 11, 2018 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
Best Paper Award for paper “Amino acid stabilized synthesis of tungsten disulfide quantum dots”, Mayank Garg, Nishant Kumar, Amit L. Sharma and Suman Singh, presented in International Symposium on Functional Materials (ISFM-2018): Energy and Biomedical Applications organized by IIT Kanpur, Panjab University, Chandigarh and University of Illinois, Chicago, USA, during  April 13-15, 2018
2017
CSIR-CSIO wins unprecedented five Skoch Awards including Gold-Skoch Transformational Innovation award
The Project work titled Electrostatic spraying technology for societal and industrial applications by Dr. Manoj K Patel, Ms. Sudeshna Bagchi and Mr. Hemant K Sahoo has been selected among the Top 40 innovations at the National Fair & Award Ceremony of 9th Edition DST CII AICTE India Innovation Initiative (i3) 2017 held at the AICTE Complex, Vasant Kunj in New Delhi, India on December 8, 2017.
Ms. Naga Vara Aparna Akula, has been awarded "IEI Young Engineers Award 2017-2018" in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering discipline by the Institute of Engineers India.The award is presented by Shri.BHVS Narayana Murthy, Outstanding Scientist and Director, Research Center Imarat (DRDO) on the occasion of IEI's 33rd National Convention of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, November 29-30, 2017, Hyderabad.
Dr. Manoj K Patel was awarded Certificate of Appreciation and Facilitated by Shri. Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister of MHRD) Gov. of India, for being selected among the top 18 social innovators across India at National Conference on Social Innovation (NCSI-2017) organised by Pune International Centre, Pune on November 17, 2017.
CSIR Young Scientist Awards 2017 in Physical Sciences (including instrumentation) was awarded to Shri. Amit Laddi, Senior Scientist, CSIR- Central Scientific Instruments Organisation , Chandigarh, for his contributions on the development of novel drive control systems for mobility carts for people with motor disability;based on minimal physical inputs like finger, facial features or head gestures.
Shri Surender Singh Saini, Principal Scientist, CSIR-CSIO has been selected for IETE-FLT LT Tanmaya Singh Dandass Memorial Award - 2017 for his contribution in the field of "Avionics display system by incorporating innovative methods in indigenous development of head up display for LCA-Tejas" and transferring its know-how to BEL , India.

Indo-Swiss Training Centre Shines at Tech-Invent-2017 organized by Chandigarh University
Shri Satish Kumar, Shri Ripul Ghosh, Shri Ashish Gaurav, Shri Siddhartha Sarkar and Shri Amarendra Goap were awarded National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) Meritorious Invention Award 2015, for the development of technology entitled, Earthquake Warning System for Regional Notification of Substantial Earthquake . The Award was given by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Minister of Science & Technology, Govt. of India on 24th March 2017 at Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi.

2016
CSIR-CSIO technology entitled, ‘Earthquake Warning System for Regional Notification of Substantial Earthquake’ has been awarded two awards on 15th December 2016 at Constitution Club, New Delhi
  • 'Gold-SKOCH Transformational Innovation  Award 2016’ which is highest independent honour in India.
  •  ‘SKOCH-Order-of-Merit-Award 2016’ for qualifying amongst top 100 projects in India. SKOCH award is aimed at bringing scientific innovations and technologies that have been tested in labs, excelled in their respective fields that may be ready for the market. This also includes innovations and technologies that have been commercialised but await proliferation.

SKOCH ORDER-OF-MERIT 2015 Award : Under 12th FYP Network Project SUSTRANS - Sustainable Transportation, CSIR-CRRI, New Delhi is the Nodal Laboratory and CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh is a participating Laboratory.
